Meditation Melbourne

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a technique which relaxes the body and quickly calms the mind. It brings the body back into a state of balance and leads to a clear focussed and self aware quality of mind. It is based on focussing and not getting caught up in our thoughts. In my meditations I focus on the breath and different parts of the body.

Molecular ThoughtsWhat is Mindfulness?

I like Jon Kabat-Zinn’s definition of mindfulness. “Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; On purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”
You can develop mindfulness with meditation, martial arts, yoga riding a bike or any activity where you centre yourself in your breath and your body while watching any thoughts with detachment. Over time the quantity of thoughts slows down and you simply watch the thoughts instead of engaging them.

What is an Embodied Mind?

According to Rezults Coaching, an embodied mind is when you are centred in your somatic mind in the body and open through the body into the world, thus connecting the cognitive conscious mind in your head with a larger intelligence. It involves letting go of the conscious mind for a greater confidence, deeper understanding, mindfulness and increased capacity at many levels. It increases one’s ability to deal with stress, pressure and criticism through an intuitive knowing.

How can all of this help you?

By practising meditation and other techniques such as grounding, aligning and centering we can slowly bring the body back into balance and become less reactive to everything going on in our lives. By becoming relaxed and centred we allow a grounded energy of intelligence in the form of creativity, intuition and strength to flow through our bodies instead of becoming stuck and unresourceful in thoughts of past undesirable outcomes.
